Episode 18 – 🥬🍂Leaf it to me!🍂🥬

Has anyone seen a leaf?

As the summer comes to an end and days get shorter and colder, one of my favourite pastimes comes into play. I love to play out in the woods and streets where there are piles and piles of fallen leaves. I really like the crunch they make and the soft feeling on my fur when I jump in and out of them. Sometimes I can look like a fury leave monster!

We love to have walks out and mum and dad have taken me all over the place. As well as leafy woods, I love the seaside and areas of large open space, especially if there are loads of different smells and things to get stuck into. Sometimes dad grumbles if I get too messed up with leaves and twigs as they get stuck in my fur and it takes hours to get them all out. I also have muddy paws which leave marks all over the car much to dad’s delight! (he always has an old towel in the car now just for this occasion!).

There are some things that happen that you just can’t resist like walking passed a huge chocolate cake and dipping your finger into the icing; pushing a large red button that says don’t push; midnight fridge raids that feel like covert military ops; Popping bubble wrap; Pressing elevator buttons just because they light up. For me, it’s chasing leaves that get blown in the wind…..”just got to chase them….can’t stop!”

Time to give this leaf a good telling off!

This is great fun but sometimes it can lead to dangerous situations, mainly when the leaf blows out into the road. Under normal circumstances I am fairly street wise and know not to run out onto a busy road but when the red mist takes over and I just have to chase the leaf I sometimes got carried away and run out into the road. Thankfully I never got hurt but always got a bit of a telling off from dad (quite rightly so) and that would mean the rest of my walk I was kept on the shortest leader dad could get – boring!

If I managed to catch the leaf, which with my excellent skills was very often (so I say so myself!) I used to give it some ruthless shaking from side to side in my mouth until very little was left. Normally a few pieces stuck to my chin! I loved this time of year, and it was good to get outside in the cooler air and pounce on leaves as well as smell just about anything I could find! Happy Days!

Anyway, must go and find some leaves to chase (not anywhere near the road – if dad’s listening! LOL🐶)

TTFN,

Mazie
