Episode 12 – Something’s Cookin’
Mam and dad are behaving strangely. I’m not sure what’s going on but they are not acting as normal. I am getting a little concerned however they seem to be quite happy. Also, not wanting to be too rude, but mam seems to be putting on a little weight! Not sure how to approach this.
Mam was on the sofa, so I decided to jump up and sit next to her. She held her tummy and let me know that inside was going to be my new brother or sister. Oh I now see what’s going on. That was it, I was really excited about this news and had a good sniff at her tummy to see if I could find anything there….no, just rumbling sounds and mam’s perfume as normal.
Over the next few weeks her tummy grew bigger, and mam and dad started to get things ready for the new arrival. One night, something terrible happened, Mam was busy around the house as normal but then let out a huge scream! She had suffered a severe bleed and was getting very upset and concerned. Nan and Grandad came straight over and she was rushed to hospital. Dad went straight to the hospital in his own car. After quite a long time I found out that she was ok and that the baby was still alive – few!
After a number of days, mam was allowed to come home but was on strict orders to rest and keep movement to a minimum. That was my new job. I stayed with her and gave her company on the sofa throughout the day as her tummy grew bigger and bigger. Although this was caused by a really serious thing, I grew to like our regular sessions sitting together and having mam/ dog quality time — this was the best and I did everything I could to keep her clam and entertained. I will always remember this quality time with my mum.
Then one day, mum had to go into hospital again. This time she was very happy and nothing serious was occurring. Mam said that she was going to have her baby. I was really excited and couldn’t wait to see my new baby brother or sister. After a number of hours dad eventually came home from the hospital and told me that I had a new baby brother. I am going to call him H. A few days later mum, dad and my new brother, H, came home. I was introduced to him and loved him immediately. He was so small. I gave him a welcoming sniff and that was it we were besties for ever!
Me, H and Dad having a quality nap on the sofa!
Later on, as he got older, he would always give me a welcoming tickle on the head and a friendly tap to say hello. I replied with a confident wag of the tail. I am so pleased that I had the chance to meet and become best friends with H as well as RJ.
And so….my family grows…..
Anyway, time now to snuggle into my new baby bro!
