Episode 3 – My Cousin Millie

Image
Millie My nana and granddad live just around the corner. Throughout my life I would stay with them when mum and dad were working. When I first visited them, I met their dog, Millie, for the first time: she was a black and white Spaniel cross. She was older than me by a long way. I loved the opportunity to play with her like I played with my brother at my first house. Unfortunately, she was a little too old to play young pup’s games and found me a little annoying. I did try and nip her tail to start a chase off but she just grumped and growled at me. My mum and dad loved Millie, and I respected that. She was a great dog and I got the fact that she was just too old to play. She loved her food and once mum found her in her kitchen having stolen a box of dog biscuits and got her head stuck completely inside. After a massive struggle she just gave in and sat there completely still until help arrived. She may have been there for some time and no doubt filling in the time by consuming all the...

Episode 2 - Settling in and Food

It didn’t take long to get settled in with my new family. There was a lot of love a joy. One of my favourite games was to steal one of my dad’s socks and run around the house with it until he saw me. He pretended to get angry but I could see in his face that he was having just as much fun as I was. “Why you little ……” he used to shout at me which then led to me being chased around the house by him. I also know that he sometimes deliberately let me slip through his grasp when he did get close to keep the game going.  Many times, mum would be trying to do some work when I flew past a full speed shortly followed by dad chasing me. I saw her laughing at dad’s clumsy running and chasing which made me laugh also. I had loads of food which initially my old home had told mum that I liked tripe. For those who don’t know what that is that’s probably an advantage as it consists of bits of meat that no one else want...

In the beginning

Hello everyone, let me introduce myself. I am Mazie, I am a white and gold Shih Tzu dog, weigh 7kg and lived with my family for 16 years and 11 months (that's me in the picture). When I moved on to the other side of the rainbow bridge my dad wanted to tell my story but was too upset. So I decided to tell it for him. This is my story. I was born in the north of England in a small industrial town and had a number of brothers and sisters. When my new family first came to see me most of my brothers and sisters had already moved in with their new families. My brother, white and chocolate brown and sister, exactly the same colour as me, were the only pups left. I remember my new family coming to visit. My new mum took a like to my sister who immediately sat on her knee and gave her a huge cuddle. Me on the other hand thought that was boring and I wanted to play in the garden with my brother. I used to love winding him up, which sister doesn’t like winding their brother up! By sneaking up...
